Initially, the focus is on fast-moving, high-demand agri-commodities such as sugar, pulses, spices, and fresh produce, which typically maintain consistent market demand year-round. This approach ensures SPICE’s yield generation is grounded in real-world value creation, offering a sustainable alternative to the volatility often associated with purely digital or speculative RWA models.
Over the past six years, Pinnacle has expanded its commodity base and its network of buyers and suppliers across South Asia. Founded by Daks Gunaratne, CBO of SPICE and Chairman of Pinnacle Group, the company began with a foundational contract to import ICUMSA 45-grade sugar from India to Sri Lanka. This initial success marked the beginning of Pinnacle’s evolution from humble beginnings into a robust trading operation that now handles over 20 commodities across the region.
