SPICE Genesis Story: Introduction to SPICE and Its Vision

In the rapidly evolving landscape of Real World Assets (RWAs), SPICE emerges as a pioneering platform that seamlessly integrates blockchain technology with the tangible value generated through global supply chains. At its core, SPICE aims to redefine yield generation by combining efficient, cost-effective, and reliable digital funding mechanisms with the practical realities of physical commerce. Pinnacle, our South Asian operation headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka—a strategic trading hub bridging East and West—serves as SPICE’s real-world trading arm, playing a pivotal role in realizing our vision.

Unlike many RWA protocols that rely on asset tokenization or speculative financial instruments, SPICE distinguishes itself by generating yield from funding price-locked commodity trading contracts. Initially, the focus is on fast-moving, high-demand agri-commodities such as sugar, pulses, spices, and fresh produce, which typically maintain consistent market demand year-round. This approach ensures SPICE’s yield generation is grounded in real-world value creation, offering a sustainable alternative to the volatility often associated with purely digital or speculative RWA models.

Over the past six years, Pinnacle has expanded its commodity base and its network of buyers and suppliers across South Asia. Founded by Daks Gunaratne, CBO of SPICE and Chairman of Pinnacle Group, the company began with a foundational contract to import ICUMSA 45-grade sugar from India to Sri Lanka. This initial success marked the beginning of Pinnacle’s evolution from humble beginnings into a robust trading operation that now handles over 20 commodities across the region.

SPICE’s vision is to create a sustainable, yield-generating ecosystem that leverages the strengths of both blockchain and real-world commerce. By focusing on tangible trade processes, SPICE sets itself apart by offering a model that prioritizes stability and real economic impact.

Pinnacle, as SPICE’s real-world trading arm, curates and secures deals, facilitates on-chain funding, and underwrites the transactions it executes. By funding the physical movement of goods, Pinnacle grounds yield generation in tangible trade profits, not digital speculation. With a robust supply chain and deep regional expertise, Pinnacle aligns perfectly with SPICE’s mission to bridge blockchain efficiency with real-world commerce, delivering consistent, real value backed on-chain.

Since launching, SPICE has attracted numerous real-world businesses like Pinnacle, seeking cost-effective, efficient, and reliable alternative funding for working capital in return for highly competitive yields.

It seems we may have sparked a movement.
